Diabetes + Foot Care

Diabetes & foot care

Diabetes can affect the feet in several ways, including reducing blood flow, nerve sensation, and the body’s ability to heal. These changes increase the risk of foot ulcers, infections, and deformities, making regular podiatry care essential for prevention and early intervention.

At Sole Wellness Podiatry, we provide comprehensive diabetes foot care, including:

  • Regular foot assessments to detect changes in sensation, circulation, or structure

  • Risk stratification to guide the frequency of care

  • Nail care, callus management, and skin care advice

  • Education on appropriate footwear, daily foot checks, and self-care strategies

  • Early treatment of any foot problems to prevent complications

  • We work in partnership with your GP to ensure your foot health is managed alongside your overall care.

Why foot care is important for people living with diabetes

Proactive podiatry care helps to:

  • Prevent ulcers and infections

  • Reduce the risk of amputation

  • Maintain mobility and independence

  • Support overall health and quality of life

All care is tailored to your level of risk, activity, and lifestyle to ensure the safest outcomes.

Coordinated high-risk foot care

At Sole Wellness Podiatry, our podiatrists have extensive expertise and experience in high-risk foot care and collaborate closely with the Yorke & Northern Local Health Network, (including podiatry, community nursing, dietitians, and diabetes educators), local doctors, and multi-disciplinary high-risk foot teams in metropolitan areas. This ensures coordinated, comprehensive care for clients when additional support or specialist input is required.
