About custom orthotics

Custom orthotics can be a game changer for many people, regardless of age or activity level, especially when pain, injury, or reduced function are present. These custom-made medical devices are designed by your podiatrist to address a wide range of foot concerns and related issues in the ankles, knees, hips, and spine. Unlike standard insoles or generic shoe inserts, orthotics are custom-made to provide tailored support and comfort specific to your needs.

Orthotics are particularly effective when used alongside other therapies offered by Sole Wellness Podiatry, such as shockwave therapy, dry needling, tool-assisted massage, or foot mobilisation and manipulation. This comprehensive approach can help you move more comfortably and confidently.

Sole Wellness Podiatry partners with South Australian-based orthotic labs, and some specialising interstate labs, to manufacture the highest quality orthotics and devices. If you have private health insurance with podiatry cover, you may be eligible to claim part or the full cost of orthotics (check codes F301 + F221 with your health fund provider).

How do custom orthotics help?

  • Realign Foot Structure: Orthotics help position your feet for optimal function, easing muscle strain, enhancing movement, and improving shock absorption.

  • Redistribute Pressure: By changing the way your foot contacts the ground, orthotics reduce excess strain and pressure, lowering your risk of injury.

  • Enhance Neurofeedback: Orthotics stimulate nerve endings in your feet, which can improve your body’s awareness and movement control.

  • Custom-Fit for You: Your podiatrist will use a cast or 3D scan to design orthotics specifically for you, based on a thorough gait and biomechanical assessment.
